Highlights About Key Huntzinger Leaders

Role
I’m Huntzinger’s Vice President of National Business Development. I’m essentially responsible for developing new business based on the relationships that I’ve developed with people over the years. This is very much a relationship business.

Time at Huntzinger
I joined Huntzinger in November 2017.

Time in Healthcare IT
I became the CIO of Scott & White Memorial Hospital and Clinic in 1987 – so about 32 years, of which 17 was with a total of three Texas healthcare providers and 15 with four different healthcare IT consulting firms. I actually began in healthcare in the late 70s as an internal auditor after three-plus years of Army active duty and a few years in public accounting.

What was Your Most Recent Assignment?
I travel almost every week. My main role is scheduling meetings with CIOs, talking with them about their issues, and learning how we might be able to help them. Much of what we discuss are the initiatives that they’ll be working on within the next 12 months, such as infrastructure, clinical software, ERP, and other projects.

What is Your Domain Strength?
Building and maintaining relationships is my strength. I’ve been in healthcare IT since 1987, so I have been fortunate to know a lot of people through my participation in CHIME, HIMSS, and other professional healthcare organizations. Just by being around CIOs for years, I’ve formed many relationships that help me in my business development work.

What are Your Hobbies?
I’m an occasional golfer, but I don’t play much as I used to. I live on a 23-acre farm with chickens, a horse, dogs, and cats. Our family went through the whole 4H thing (cow, rabbits, sheep, pig – some of which now occupy space in our freezer) with our youngest daughter, who is now grown. Now I spend my time keeping up with the work on the farm. I’m an avid reader, and when I’m not doing that I’m typically mowing or chopping down weeds and trees. I am also involved in many aspects of our church.

What Do You Enjoy Most About Being a Part of the Huntzinger Team?
Huntzinger has a really great team of talented people. Our breadth and depth of services covers a lot of what CIOs need. The partners are great to work with, and I’ve known some of them and many of the Next Wave advisors for decades. It’s great that I’m able to tap into their knowledge.
